Vitti ‘na crozza – Like Ciuri Ciuri, this is also a song that would’ve been mad e popular by urban entertainers and folkloric groups (in other words, working peasants wouldn’t have sang it). It’s a song almost any modern Sicilian could still identify and it’s been covered by numerous singers. The lyrics tell the story of someone who finds a skull and the skull speaks, lamenting that no bells rang at its death so it can’t be at rest. I’ve come across a few interpretations that have described the song as an anti-war protest song. While I can’t say that it is an anti-war song definitively, I’d be happy to have our performance thought of that way.
