As I was hunting around for a ballad to arrange for Dominic to sing, I came across the work of singer Carlo Muratori. Based in the city of Siracusa, Carlo has been exploring everything from popular Sicilian songs to church music for many years, and I was very happy to get his feedback on a few of the songs I sent him. He recorded Nun ti lassu on his own CD Sicily and was kind enough to send me the lyrics. I wanted my arrangement to be quite different from Carlo’s and knowing that we were bringing in the string quartet to record the Almond Sorters, I decided that I would feature them on this tune as well.
